Varun Bhatt is part of the Investment team at UIV and works out of our office in Mumbai. He
comes from various fields in finance with stints in M&A, equity hedge funds and running start
ups. He has also had exposure globally, working in London, Singapore and Indonesia before his
move to UIV Mumbai.
Varun started his career at Goldman Sachs London in their M&A department, where he worked with the leveraged finance team. After a stint in distressed debt at Warwick Capital Partners he made the move to the Asian Markets to join Dymon Asia Singapore where he covered tech equites in China and the US. While a large part of his focus was on companies like Alibaba, Tencent and Baidu, he also helped the firm direct their investments in the electric/autonomous vehicle space.
His Start up experience comes from being the head of business development at Rocket Internet’s Carmudi. A car marketplace cum financing company based out of Indonesia with operations in Philippines and Sri Lanka. Here he was able to forge strong partnerships for the company with giants such as Go-Jek, Allianz and Bank Central Asia.
An Economics major from the London School of Economics and Political Science he has cleared his CFA level 1 and is a level 2 candidate. Varun’s hobbies range from fitness to a passion for history.
